WAUKEGAN, IL - A packed house was on hand to see their hometown Bulldogs played the #11 ranked Trevians of New Trier. New Trier entered coming off a tight loss at the Chicago State Showcase to highly touted Washington 54-56. Looking to get a notch in the win column they brought some very talented players in Alex Rossi & Jack Boehm. Waukegan had their own ace up their sleeve in Illinois recruit Jereme Richmond.
Neither team came out looking stellar as the pace was quick with many mistakes. The Trevians Rossi seemed to be in control of his team, until at the end of the first half he went for a break away dunk and missed landing on his back. After that he wasn't the same. New Trier took a 20-11 lead into the lockerroom. The bulldogs came out in the second half a different team, outscoring the Trevians 36-18. Waukegan's Rashaan Melvin was the Bulldog leader on the court. With time winding down Richmond for the Bulldogs seemed to put down his baby bottle and actually get in the game. A complete disappointment as he whined and whined about everything, we will get more into that in the scouting notes. In the end Waukegan started to pull away and sealed a great win for them. New Trier has some work to do to get back on top. |

Waukegan
Rashaan Melvin - G - 6-1: Was excellent the entire game, finishing with 24pts. Wasn't all flash on the court but worked hard the entire game at both ends of the court. Has good moves and handles the ball well. Has a better then average shot and can shot from anywhere needed. Should help Waukegan to a great season.
Jereme Richmond - F - 6-6: What can we say, a highly touted, very skilled cry baby tonight. He whined about everything the entire game. At times he didn't even get back on defense, just stood under his own basket crying about having not gotten the ball. Better grow a set before he gets to college. If he keeps having games like this he won't be at Illinois. Had 13 points most of which came at the end of the game when he actually focused on playing with his team and not as an individual. Hoping he gets his head out of the sand and becomes the player we saw glimpses of. Side note: sat some games this year for fighting with own teammates.
New Trier
Alex Rossi - F - 6-4: Only a sophomore Rossi has time to improve on his already good skills. Has a good build for the game and a very good shot when its hitting. Handles the ball better then average and sees the open man quickly. Can rebound and make a move to the basket, have afraid to bang under the net. Moves up and down the court well. Looked a bit dazed after his missed dunk and wasn't the same, as he was holding his knee a few times, had 8pts. A lot of upside, will continue to watch.
Tim McCrary - F - 6-5: A good big man under the net, played well with good moves. Moves well on the court, plays hard at both ends. Had 8pts.
Peter Boehm - F - 6-6: Came in wanting to see his twin brother Jack but cam away liking him more. Peter has a good game with 12pts. Played good defense and better offense. Grabbed rebounds and held strong under the basket. Good skills just needs to impose himself more.
